February 2010 - Newsletter

City News

* A reminder from the Chenoa Police Department: It is illegal to use cell phones in school and construction zones. It is also unlawful and simply not a good idea to text while driving at any time.
* You may not park in the downtown area after 2 inches of snowfall until the snow has been cleared away. We are unable to plow with vehicles in the way. If you are found in violation your vehicle will be ticketed and towed at your expense.
* If you are not an early riser (I know I 'm not) you may want to consider placing your garbage out the Tuesday night before pick up. Make sure your garbage is in a can with a tight fitting or locking lid. Refuse may also not be placed at the curb more than 24 hours in advance of pickup.
* Keep all storm sewers clear of yard debris and trash. With the ground frozen there is nowhere for water from melting snow to go.
* It is unlawful to connect your sump pump up to the City Sanitary Sewer. When it is discovered you can be fined up to $750.00.
* A reminder that building permits are required for all fences and new construction and should be applied for prior to starting any new project. Applications are available at City Hall

Title 13 of the U.S. Code protects the confidentiality of all your information and violating this law is a crime with severe penalties.
